Kriegsmarine Flag

The final touch for completing the sub was the Kriegsmarine (German naval) flag.

Due to a long-time ban, kits from Revell (being a German company) do not have swastikas in their kits: flags, decals, box artwork, etc. As such, I had to hand-draw the swastikas on the sides of the Kriegsmarine flag.

I then carefully cut out the flag with a sharp Xacto blade, then used Weldbond to glue the flag to either side of cigarette-pack foil. After the glue dried (only a few minutes), I cut out the flag ‘sandwich’ and added folds to the flag so it appears to be draped/hanging; the foil allows the flag to keep its shape. I then attached the flag to the flagpole using fine wire to simulate the flag rope.
